Condemn the Repression – and Prepare for It

One of Sweden’s most famous antifascist researchers, Martin Fredriksson, has recently come out as being paid by the Swedish secret police. His reasons for this is that this should have helped with smashing the Nazi movement and that it is therefore legitimate to go behind his comrades backs for over ten years.

The means do not, however, always justify the means. Our movement’s greatest goal is not to smash the Nazi movement (even this is an important struggle we are actively waging). Our goal is a classless society without state and capital, beyond patriarchy and racism. The nation state in itself is a racist construction which creates and develops racism. Fascism is just a development from these basic tendencies. To get in the same boat as the state in order to somehow try to fight fascism is not merely absurd but counterproductive.

The last few years the repression has intensified. The state’s anti-extremist campaign is trying to turn teachers into snitches, the media is trying to make the movement divide into good and bad demonstrators and the police is attacking our demonstrations and using massive resources to jail autonomous activists. We have to realize that we are under a direct attack from the state in an attempt to smash our movement. Against this attack we have our solidarity to one another. We are not friends with everyone in the movement, far from it, but we are always and will always be in solidarity with all comrades against the state.

We have to condemn people like Martin Fredriksson. At the same time we must realize we have to prepare for repression. We have to become more professional, structured and organized to avoid security issues. At the same time we have to create a movement without machismo, without alcohol- and drug problems and other instances which make people say things they later don’t dare or do actions they regret. We have to become more ideologically developed in order to vaccinate ourselves against all the misunderstandings that Fredriksson has expressed. We are not Social Democrats who happen to fight fascism with militancy on the streets. We are not against the police because they give us a hard time. We are socialist revolutionaries who try to overthrow the existing society in order to create true freedom for all mankind.
